One of my favorite topics when I teach wellness workshops is feet. I encourage my clients and students to give their feet some attention — to help with calming and grounding at the end of the day, to help support a good night’s sleep, and to help address issues of discomfort in the legs and lower back.
I came across a short NPR piece called How to Keep Your Feet Happy, which talks about a common foot ailment, plantar fasciitis. It provides advice on the best kind of shoes to wear — they should have a minimum of support — and an audio slideshow with exercises to strengthen and stretch feet presented by podiatrist-turned-Pilates instructor Colleen Schwartz.
And here are two of my previous posts with stretches for feet:

Tyler Yang
First off, I would like to thank-you for taking the time to read this as you are passing by through this particular portal of communication on your life journey. My name is Tyler Yang and I am from Vancouver, British Columbia; and I am here to share with you the story of someone I hold close to my heart. Seventeen years ago, I was born. I opened my eyes and took my first breath of fresh west coast air. Little did I know along with life’s miracle, child birth, I would be one of the biggest impositions and challenges my seventeen year old mother would have to overcome.
Let’s fast forward to two days ago (June 3rd / 2011), that was the day I walked across the stage at my convocation ceremony and received my Diploma. While I did so, my mother was in the crowd screaming her lungs out and the sheer joy and pride plastered on her face is an image that will forever stay engrained in my mind. Looking back to that first breath I took and the absence of a breath in that moment two days ago, I thought to myself: “My mother made it work, she gave me a life where I felt secure and had the support to learn and grow.” More importantly, she made me realize over these seventeen years that I was not an imposition, no not all, but instead a gift to her soul.
The reason why I chose to share the personal bond I have with my mother and disclosing details about my graduation is so that I could repay my mother back in a deserving way. Several months ago, she took to a local competition offered by a fitness centre, Go Fusion Fitness. The competition has been an enduring weight loss battle between twenty women. My mother with her determined soul and body, has fought to shed those pounds and in the process of doing so made many lasting friendships with the other incredible women in the competition. She has now made it to the top five in the competition and just recently had her final weigh-in. I am proud to say that over the last four brief months, my mother has lost a total of 46.0 lbs and a total of 33.50 inches. I look now and I see such a positive change not only in regards to her physical being, but her mental and emotional state. My mother has no conclusive thoughts about her weight loss in this battle because she plans to continue on this health journey as the competition comes to an end. This competition has only given her the tools and passion she needed to build a better life for herself.
Alright, so here it is! The big reveal for the winner of the competition is this Thursday, June 9th. A significant portion of my mother’s final score is based on public voting, which has resulted in a big popularity contest. My mother has her close network of friends, but that has only managed to get her so far. As of right now, she is currently sitting roughly 600 votes behind first place. I told my mom countless times, that I’m proud of her no matter what and it’s the weight lost and the lessons you’ve learnt that will serve you more value in the end. However, I would like to repay her for what she has done for me and the opportunity has presented itself, so I will seize it.
If my mother has inspired you in any way or you believe she should be recognized for her efforts, please go about these 5 easy steps to vote for her:
1. Visit the following link: http://www.gofusionfitness.com/microsite/11/voting.php ;
2. Scroll down the page, until you see the six images of the contestants. There you will find the image of my mother “Lisa Dorozan.” Underneath her photograph, you will see the following text “Vote for Lisa Dorozan” (Click On This).
3. A window should pop up where you enter your Name and Email, and then click “Submit Vote”
4. Go into your email inbox and open the email sent to you by the Go Fusion Fitness website regarding voting.
5. Inside this email you will see a link that looks similar to this one “http://voting.gofusionfitness.com/confirm.cfm?cid=5C9BB8DDFBB4A9D58154C99B6103A5B” Click on this link – it will confirm your vote and add it to my mother’s score.
Note: You can vote every single day! In addition, if you have more than one email you can vote from all of those too. If you have 3 emails and you vote 4 days in a row, that’s 12 votes collectively from one person!
If you have now voted, I would like to thank-you so much for doing so and if you feel it is appropriate to recommend this article to your friends, family or colleagues; please do so. For more information you can contact me at: by “@mention” on twitter: @itstyleryang Cheers! La dolce vita!

Natural health reviews
I have noticed my feet hurt less when I wear sandals rather than shoes, perhaps due to the less support like you mentioned.
